Christmas 2014 was a very successful festive holiday period for Buri Rasa Village, a 4 Star resort in Thong Nai Pan Noi on the Southern Thai Island of Koh Phangan. With near 100% occupancy rates, anyone wanting to join in the fun for 2015 needs to book early.
The highlight of Christmas at Buri Rasa Village is the gala Christmas Dinner on the evening of the 24th December 2014, the cost of which is included with the room price.
This year, because of the high tides, the dinner was moved from the beachside restaurant to the resort’s own Village Square, which is immediately next door.
Preparations for the Christmas dinner are elaborate. In addition to the extensive buffet style feast of over 50 dishes, Western and Thai, the resort spared no effort in providing Christmas decorations and entertainment with a distinctly style Thai style.
The village square was prepared with sufficient seating for all the guests to dine at the same time. Christmas trees don’t grow in tropical climates so Buri Rasa Village replaced the traditional pine tree with a Christmas tree made from tropical fruit. In addition to this the serving tables were decorated with elaborate fruit carvings which looked as though they must have taken several days to prepare.
As if this wasn’t enough for a truly special tropical Christmas, the resort also laid on entertainment.
With an admirable display of self-sufficiency, the resort staff themselves took part in a Thai style cabaret of singing and dancing. The theme of the cabaret show was the four regions of Thailand. Thailand has four very distinctive cultures: North, South, Central and North East; each with their own music, costumes, cuisines, language and dancing styles. Thai people from all other Thailand come to work at Buri Rasa Village, and the staff were proud to be able to display the culture of their own region in the form of dancing and singing. The cabaret was a light hearted affair with many of the men working at the resort dressing as women to perform traditional dances in their regional costumes.
Once the Christmas dinner was finished, the celebrations moved to the beach where all four of the major resorts on Thong Nai Pan Noi beach (Buri Rasa Village, Santhiya Resort & Spa, Panviman Resort, and Rasananda Villa Resort and Spa) put on a firework display for everyone to enjoy.
